Custom Job Purpose:
This position exists to perform responsible advanced and specialized work maintaining the accounting records related to maintenance services and maintenance projects.
Essential Functions of this Job
Coordinates the accounts payable function of the Maintenance Department to ensure timely and accurate payments. Processes suppliers and subcontractors' pay requests, contracts and related documents. Reviews vouchers and certificates of delivery pertaining to maintenance activities. Reviews documentation and works with vendors regarding payments pertaining to maintenance activities. Instructs contractors and maintenance personnel regarding the use of the accounting system as it applies to them.
Prepares reports and information regarding cumulative maintenance costs. Advises departmental management of potential cost overruns or other related problems. Records and tracks requisitions and purchase orders. Coordinates office employee records.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and methods with the ability to apply such knowledge to work situations. Knowledge of office procedures and methods. Skill in the operation of computers and other standard office equipment. Ability to maintain accurate records in extensive detail. Ability to perform mathematical computations quickly and accurately. Bilingual/biliterate preferred.
Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements
Graduation from high school, completion of GED, or trade school. Five (5) or more year's responsible experience in bookkeeping and accounting.
Work Context:
Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires work with both internal and external contacts, and with the public.
Physical Environment:
Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Requires sitting for the majority of the day, and the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 20 pounds. May infrequently be required to lift more than 20 pounds.
