ITW Maintenance Technician in Bartlett, Illinois
Job Description:
Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support the implementation of safety protocols and ensure compliance with all safety regulations
Conduct routine preventive maintenance and predictive maintenance on manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and pneumatic issues with Extrusion Molding machinery
Perform repairs and replacement of faulty components to keep machines operating efficiently
Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency
Document work requests, work orders, and machinery failures for machines and equipment
Utilize electrical measuring instruments to solve electrical issues
Maintain chiller system
Maintain plant air supply system
Maintain resin delivery system
Record and maintain spare part usage
Minimum Required Skills and Education
High school diploma or GED
3+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
Possess the knowledge and understanding of process controls, industrial electrical wiring and 3 phase systems up to 480 Volts
Knowledgeable of A/C and D/C motors and controls
Familiarity with PLCs, motors, drives, and control systems
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
Basic computer skills for documentation and CMMS systems
Excellent problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must be able to effectively read, write and communicate in English
Preferred Skills/Education
Technical certification or Associate’s Degree
Welding, fabrication, or machining experience
Experience with extrusion or plastics processing equipment
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and TPM principles
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to stand and walk for 8–12 hours per shift in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching to access machinery and perform repairs
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally heavier loads with assistance
Manual dexterity for handling tools, small components, and precision adjustments.
Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces as required for equipment maintenance
Good vision (with or without corrective lenses) for reading schematics, troubleshooting, and performing detailed work
Comfortable working in areas with high noise levels, heat from extrusion processes, and exposure to lubricants, chemicals, and moving machinery
Must wear required PPE throughout the shift
Ability to work when needed, including weekends or overtime as needed to support production
Compensation Information:
$28-$32
