Awake Overnight Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Two Full-Time Positions Available – Make a Difference While the World Sleeps
Pay: $19.20/hour Shifts: Awake Overnight Status: Full-Time (2 Openings)
Position 1: 32.5 hours per week
Position 2: 39 hours per week

At LARC, our Awake Overnight Direct Support Professionals play a critical role in ensuring the safety, dignity, and comfort of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout the night. This is meaningful, trusted work that truly matters.
This is an awake overnight position. You are expected to remain alert and attentive for the entire shift.
Important Note: This position serves female individuals. In accordance with state and federal regulations, female gender is a bona fide occupational qualification (BFOQ) for this role due to personal care and privacy needs.
What You’ll Do
Overnight Support & Monitoring
Remain awake, alert, and attentive throughout the entire overnight shift
Monitor individuals while they sleep to ensure health, safety, and comfort
Respond to nighttime needs such as toileting, repositioning, mobility support, or emotional reassurance
Complete required visual checks and documentation (T-Logs, GERs, safety notes)
Maintain a calm, clean, and safe household environment overnight
Morning Routine Support
Assist individuals with morning routines including hygiene, dressing, toileting, mobility, and breakfast preparation
Encourage independence while providing hands-on support as needed
Support smooth transitions into daytime schedules and programs
Health, Safety & Compliance
Administer medications as required (training provided)
Respond appropriately to medical or safety concerns and follow all emergency procedures
Uphold individual rights, dignity, and confidentiality at all times
Safely operate agency or personal vehicles as needed

What You’ll Bring
A compassionate, steady presence and genuine desire to support others
High school diploma or GED
At least 21 years of age with a valid CT driver’s license and clean driving record
Willingness to complete background checks, physical exam, and drug screening
Ability to complete required state-mandated and agency training
Basic computer skills for documentation and communication
Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is preferred but not required — we will train the right person.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
This is an active, hands-on role. You must be able to:
Stay alert and responsive throughout the overnight shift
Walk, stand, bend, kneel, squat, and climb stairs as needed
Assist with lifting, transferring, or supporting individuals (up to 50 lbs or ¼ of body weight)
Safely operate vehicles and mobility equipment
Communicate clearly and complete written and electronic documentation
