Your role and responsibilities
You don’t need a decade of experience to join us - you need solid Java fundamentals, curiosity, and the drive to grow fast. At IBM Consulting, you’ll work on real backend and frontend projects alongside people who genuinely want to help you level up.
How you’ll make an impact:
Build and maintain Java backend services using Jakarta EE, Spring, Spring Boot, or Quarkus - real code, real impact
Contribute to frontend development - Angular, React, or Vue.js depending on the project
Design and expose RESTful APIs - and connect them to the UI
Debug and troubleshoot issues - with guidance from seniors who’ve been there before
Write clean, maintainable code - and participate in code reviews to sharpen your craft
Work in an Agile environment (Scrum or Kanban) - sprints, standups, and all the good stuff
Required technical and professional expertise
What makes you a great fit:
1+ year of Java experience with solid Java SE (Java 8+) fundamentals and OOP principles - internships and academic projects count
Jakarta EE, Spring, Spring Boot, or Quarkus - hands-on experience (even basic) with at least one of these is a must, as this is our core stack
Familiarity with REST/SOAP concepts and basic API design
Basic frontend skills - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or experience with Angular, React, or Vue.js
Some exposure to microservices concepts, containers and tools like Docker or Kubernetes
Basic SQL and experience with relational databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle
Familiarity with Git and build tools like Maven or Gradle

Exposure to CI/CD pipelines: Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions
Interest in Event-Driven Architecture using Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ
Preferred technical and professional experience
• Proficiency in Scripting Languages: Exposure to scripting languages such as Ruby or Groovy for web development, enhancing application functionality and user experience. • Knowledge of Data Access Frameworks: Familiarity with data access frameworks, enabling efficient data management and integration in enterprise applications. • Understanding of Batch Processing: Exposure to batch processing concepts and techniques, facilitating efficient data processing and system integration.
