Cognizant Tools Architect in Chennai, India

Job Role: Tools Architect (Presales / Sales Engineering)

Location: PAN India

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly accomplished Presales Solution Architect with deep expertise in Observability, AIOps, SRE-aligned operating models, ITSM/ITOM, Automation, and Hybrid Cloud ecosystems. The ideal candidate possesses strong architectural acumen, excels in customer engagement, and can strategically position enterprise tool-based solutions to drive digital operations transformation. This role focuses on complex solution design, value articulation, competitive differentiation, and solution defense across enterprise pursuits.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Discovery & Architecture Leadership

  1. Lead advanced discovery sessions to evaluate client’s operational ecosystem, tooling landscape, service management maturity, and cloud/infrastructure topology.

  2. Identify architectural gaps, modernization opportunities, and consolidation initiatives across monitoring, observability, ITSM/ITOM, and automation domains.

  3. Develop end-to-end reference architectures, solution blueprints, and conceptual models covering:

o Full-stack and cloud-native observability

o AIOps and event correlation

o Reliability and SRE-aligned operational workflows

o CMDB‑driven topology mapping

o Federated monitoring and data ingestion architectures

  1. Architect integration strategies using APIs, webhooks, event buses, configuration repositories, and data exchange frameworks aligned to enterprise standards.

  2. Design multi-platform interoperability models involving SIAM, IT operations, DevOps, CloudOps, and Digital Experience Monitoring ecosystems.

Presales, Solutioning & Deal Defense

  1. Own the technical solution narrative during RFP/RFI phases—solution rationale, architectural recommendations, implementation roadmap, operational benefits, KPIs/SLOs, and ROI/TCO models.

  2. Collaborate with bid, pursuit, and sales teams to craft differentiated solution strategies and value propositions tailored to customer environments.

  3. Build compelling executive-level presentations, solution playbooks, heatmaps, and value-realization frameworks.

  4. Lead architecture walkthroughs, technical validations, and solution defense presentations with CXO, enterprise architects, and evaluation committees.

  5. Define commercial configurations (BoM/BoQ), licensing constructs, and consumption models across Observability, AIOps, ITSM, and automation platforms.

Service Management, SIAM & Operational Transformation

  1. Develop SIAM operating models, multi-provider governance structures, and process orchestration flows across Incident, Problem, Change, Event, and Request Management.

  2. Conduct maturity assessments leveraging operational metrics, CMDB integrity, process performance indicators, and tool utilization analytics.

  3. Recommend modular transformation roadmaps covering observability modernization, automation uplift, AIOps adoption, and SRE-aligned operational re‑design.

  4. Create transformation frameworks for reliability engineering, service availability governance, error budget policies, and proactive operational management.

Thought Leadership & Cross-functional Alignment

  1. Architect GenAI-driven operational solutions, including intelligent observability, auto-summarization, AI-assisted troubleshooting, and knowledge augmentation models.

  2. Partner with engineering, product SMEs, and delivery teams to validate solution feasibility, transition models, and deployment architecture.

  3. Contribute to organizational knowledge through whitepapers, competitive analysis, architectural frameworks, and best-practice accelerators.

  4. Track and evaluate emerging technologies—OpenTelemetry, cloud-native observability, shift-left AIOps, platform engineering, LLM-driven IT ops, and hybrid cloud monitoring.

Required Skills & Experience

  1. 10–12 years of experience in IT Infrastructure, Cloud/Hybrid Operations, Enterprise Architecture, or Tools Architecture roles.

  2. Demonstrated expertise in presales, solution architecture, and solution defense for large enterprise deals.

  3. Strong command over modern Observability ecosystems including Dynatrace, Datadog, AppDynamics, OpsRamp, LogicMonitor, Splunk, New Relic, and similar platforms (conceptual, architectural—not hands-on).

  4. Deep understanding of AIOps capabilities—correlation engines, anomaly frameworks, noise reduction architectures, ML-based event management.

  5. Architectural knowledge of ITSM/ITOM platforms, especially ServiceNow CMDB architecture, Discovery patterns, Event Management flows, ITOM integration hub, and process orchestration.

  6. Broad understanding of cloud-native architectures, telemetry pipelines, distributed tracing, OpenTelemetry adoption patterns, and Kubernetes observability strategies.

  7. Excellent ability to articulate architectural decisions, trade-offs, value realization, and platform rationalization outcomes.

  8. ITIL 4 Foundation mandatory; ITIL Managing Professional / ITIL Expert preferred.

  9. Proven ability to engage with senior stakeholders—CIO, CTO, Enterprise Architects—and influence strategic decision-making.

  10. Strong analytical mindset, conceptual modeling skills, and ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
