Your role and responsibilities

As a Back-End Developer for IBM Z, you will design, develop, unit test, and deliver offerings for IBM Z using agile practices and DevOps tooling. You will work in a collaborative environment to understand requirements, design, code, debug, and test creative solutions to client problems and requirements. Your primary responsibilities will include: • Develop High-Quality Solutions: Design, develop, unit test, and deliver offerings for IBM Z, such as z/OS, zTPF, zVM, and zVSE, ensuring world-class quality and resiliency in solutions. • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work in a collaborative environment to understand requirements, design, code, debug, and test creative solutions to client problems and requirements. • Implement Agile Practices: Apply agile practices and DevOps tooling to deliver high-quality solutions efficiently and effectively. • Program in Multiple Languages: Program in various languages such as HLASM/Assembler, Java, C/C++ to design and create z/OS applications, work with z/OS subsystems, and mainframe storage solutions. • Ensure Solution Resiliency: Ensure solutions support strategic imperatives, including artificial intelligence and cloud, and maintain high-quality and resiliency in solutions.

Required technical and professional expertise

5+ years of relevant experience

Experience with the Software Development life cycle; coding, unit test, function or component test, system test and integration test

Demonstrated execution experience of Systems project development

Must have Assembler or COBOL or PL/I and JCL, VSAM.

Must have Strong analytical and problem solving skills, be able to triage and debug customer reported problems in multithreaded programming environment. Good knowledge of z/OS internals, task synchronization, resource serialization, dump analysis using IPCS.

Good to have knowledge on using the modern development tools such as VSCODE, GitHub, Jenkins pipelines.

Good communication skills and be able to work effectively in a global team environment.

Able to guide a team of lesser experienced professionals
