Your role and responsibilities

As a Procurement Operations Professional, you will provide professional support for purchase order processing and carry out tactical sourcing activities. You will utilize your knowledge of categories and category suppliers to negotiate with suppliers while following IBM Procurement policies to complete purchases. Your primary responsibilities will include: • Purchase Order Processing: Receive requests from IBM clients, negotiate with suppliers, and complete purchases while adhering to IBM Procurement policies. • Relationship Management: Set up and maintain relationships with IBM clients and suppliers through effective written and verbal communication. • Problem Resolution: Apply problem determination skills to resolve issues in the purchasing process and clear aged open POs and blocked invoices for suppliers. • Market Intelligence: Understand market trends and benchmarks related to relevant commodities through research and collaboration with other buyers in the operations team. • Procurement Tool Utilization: Effectively use IBM Procurement tools to process POs and document supplier/PO related information.

Required technical and professional expertise

• Category Knowledge: Exposure to categories and category suppliers, with understanding of market trends and benchmarks related to relevant commodities. • Procurement Tools: Experience working with procurement tools, including those used for purchase order processing and documentation of supplier/PO related information. • Sourcing and Negotiation: Exposure to tactical sourcing activities, including negotiating with suppliers and completing purchases while following procurement policies. • Problem Determination: Experience applying problem determination skills to resolve issues in the purchasing process. • Client and Supplier Communication: Exposure to setting up and maintaining relationships with clients and suppliers through effective written and verbal communication.

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Market Intelligence Knowledge: Understanding of market trends and benchmarks related to relevant commodities through research and collaboration with other buyers in the operations team is beneficial. • Advanced Procurement Tool Skills: Experience with procurement tools beyond basic usage, including advanced features for purchase order processing and documentation of supplier/PO related information, is advantageous.
