PRN Automation Pharmacy Technician 2 (PakPlus) - On Call
Role Overview
Support safe, efficient medication operations by operating and optimizing Omnicell pharmacy automation systems in a hospital or health‑system environment.
Serve as a hands‑on resource for daily automation workflows, inventory accuracy, equipment readiness, and frontline issue resolution in partnership with the Pharmacy Services Manager and customer pharmacy leaders.
Key Responsibilities
Execute daily automation tasks (issue/return/waste documentation, restocks, bin management) with high accuracy and adherence to SOPs.
Prepare, clean, and maintain automation equipment; perform routine optimization activities to sustain uptime and throughput.
Monitor inventory levels; identify and initiate medication and consumable replenishment to keep systems at optimal par levels.
Perform advanced troubleshooting of automation devices; escalate unresolved issues to the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) and document actions taken.
Follow Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs procedures when applicable; maintain compliance with site policies and Omnicell standards.
Communicate proactively with the Pharmacy Services Manager and customer stakeholders to surface risks, propose solutions, and close the loop on actions.
Act as a resource/SME to team members—providing on‑site or remote assistance and training to ensure optimal workflow and consistent best practices.
Skills & Competencies
Strong organization in a fast‑paced clinical setting; excellent customer service, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Comfort working with mechanical devices and computer hardware; proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Self‑starter who can follow detailed plans and work independently; effective interpersonal skills with all levels of customer and Omnicell personnel.
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Active State Board of Pharmacy registration/licensure for Maryland (MD)
Active National Pharmacy Technician Certification: PTCB/CPhT/EXCPT
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program.
2 years’ experience with hospital pharmacy automation.
Basic device troubleshooting skills; familiarity with IV compounding workflows.
Work Conditions
This is a PRN On Call position to support Call Ins/Sick Calls, Vacations, LOAs, etc.
Able to commute and work at these sites when On Call to support:

Shift(s): Day Shift
PRN is a strong match if you are on a 7 on / 7 off, PRN or part-time status, etc.
Hospital Pharmacy Environment:
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 35 lbs.
8–10‑hour shifts; coverage may occasionally fall outside traditional business hours based on site needs.
Potential exposure to hazardous drugs; adherence to safety protocols required.
Ability to travel for training as needed.
