Johns Hopkins University Laboratory Technician (Johns Hopkins Drug Discovery) - #Staff in Baltimore, Maryland
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician who will perform routine laboratory processes and follows routine protocols under close supervision.
The casual summer employee will follow protocols and procedures to perform general laboratory duties and techniques. Approximately 50% of the time will be dedicated to learning biochemical techniques, such as cell culture and immunohistochemistry. The remaining 50% of the time will be dedicated to assisting with routine laboratory procedures such as sample collection and various chores.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Operate standard equipment.
Use standard procedures for specific laboratory tests and preparation techniques.
Assist with laboratory maintenance, prepare solutions, and order supplies.
Identify and report problems in the completion of routine lab processes.
Other duties as assigned.
In addition to the duties described above
Perform experiments to understand the principles of animal pharmacology, and general biology procedures.
Conduct experiments to evaluate the efficacy of drugs on AD models.
Prepare reports for the work conducted
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or graduation equivalent
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong emphasis on pharmacology or neuroscience.

Starting Salary Range: $15.40 - $23.25 HRLY ($39,520 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
