Amergis Cardiac Monitor Technician (Nights 36 Hours/Week) in Baltimore, Maryland
The EKG/ECG Technician operates electrocardiograph equipment to record the electromotive variations in heart muscle actions; assists in the coding, filing, and distribution of EKG data. Performs as a member of the cardiovascular team, obtaining ECG records of events; assists in emergency situations by initiating and/or assisting in emergency procedures prescribed by facility policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operates electrocardiograph equipment to record the electromotive variations in heart muscle actions
Prepares patient for an electrocardiogram by explaining testing procedures and fastening electrodes to specific areas of arms, legs, and chest
Enters patient information into electrocardiograph including history number and patient's name
Removes electrodes; adds billing charge to requisition slip; reviews electrocardiogram for technical acceptability and rate
Mounts electrocardiograms for interpretation by physician; codes and distributes EKG data; records and files information relating to tests performed
Cleans, adjusts and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning
Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein
Ensures the comfort and safety of patients
Adheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
One (1) year of experience as an EKG Technician preferred
Appropriate Licensure or Certification; if required by state regulations or contract specifications
Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age Compliance & Ethics Expectations
