Job Title: Building Engineer

Job Description

The Building Engineer is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems including electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, life safety, and tenant requests. This role also involves other tasks assigned by the Chief or Assistant Chief Engineer as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in ensuring all building systems are operated safely, efficiently, and as originally intended.

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs to building systems and equipment.

  • Complete all service requests promptly and initiate service requests as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local codes and regulations.

  • Work collaboratively with vendors and contractors within the building.

  • Troubleshoot and repair building systems.

  • Monitor all building systems and respond to building emergencies.

  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes and make recommendations to superiors.

  • Respond to 24-hour emergency calls and carry a mobile phone for on-call duty.

  • Be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays.

  • Collaborate professionally with all building personnel.

  • Strictly adhere to all safety rules, policies, and procedures.

  • Assist in maintaining inventory for cost-effective operation.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in HVAC, facility maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.

  • Knowledge of commercial building engineering.

  • Prior experience with Central Plant Equipment such as chillers, boilers, thermal storage, pumps, heat exchangers, utility services, electrical power distribution, and plumbing/facility maintenance.

  • 2-3 years of experience in commercial real estate maintenance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.

  • Must have CFC or EPA

  • Understanding of BMS/EMS systems.

  • Experience in power plant operations.

  • Experience in maintenance repair and preventive maintenance.

Work Environment

The work environment involves operating and maintaining building systems including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. The role requires flexibility in working hours, including potential overtime, weekends, and holidays. Safety and collaboration are paramount, with strict adherence to rules and policies.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
