We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of
Financial Accounting Systems Support Maintenance Manager

Finance Systems Operations (FSO) & System Maintenance (SM) team plays a pivotal role in the upkeep of PeopleSoft General Ledger applications used by Finance users across HSBC Group. The team provides various services with a mix of technical and functional expertise like Change maintenance, Accounting & Business Rule Maintenance, Reconciliations, Exception reporting, Incident management, Access Management, Reference Data maintenance, monitoring platforms / system performance and also acts as a helpdesk in resolving issues raised by users and provides training to users when needed on applications supported. Also identifying opportunities to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness and supporting the implementation of change programs across Systems.
The AFR Systems Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading a high performing team consisting of system analysts and subject matter experts supporting the Peoplesoft General Ledger system. The role requires in-depth understanding of the finance systems architecture, the data architecture, and the needs of the financial reporting team with understanding of the regulatory and product control impacts and/or dependencies.
Main activities:
Lead and develop the team, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture with continuous improvement.
Provide strategic direction and clear analysis to support decision-making and business requirement understanding.
Ensure PSGL availability, stability, and performance (monitoring, capacity management, and operational continuity).
Manage end-to-end incidents and problems in ServiceNow (triage, prioritization, coordination, communications, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and preventive actions).
Coordinate support for financial close (daily/monthly): operating windows, process execution/tracking, validations, and key user support.
Oversee interfaces, batch processes, and upstream/downstream flows, ensuring data integrity, traceability, and data quality.
Maintain and enhance runbooks, operating procedures, Service Level Agreements (SLA) & Operational Level Agreements (OLA), and Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP) plans (including testing and evidence).
Manage user onboarding and access (access controls, segregation of duties, audit readiness, and evidence management).
Oversee master data and accounting configuration activities (reference data, mappings, reference trees, combo rules, rate uploads).
Act as approver for ServiceNow user access for PSGL/Viewer, ensuring control compliance.
Partner with IT and change teams on releases and updates: impact assessment, testing & User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Go-Live support.
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders (CFOs, GPOs, Reporting, and Senior Managers), ensuring timely solutions and effective escalation.
Ensure a robust control framework: design, governance, Quality Assurance, issue tracking, and adherence to internal standards.
Lead the remediation of internal/external audit findings and regulatory requirements, ensuring timely and effective closure.
Drive automation and process improvements to reduce manual effort and improve the user experience.
Requirements
5+ years’ experience in finance systems within the financial services industry, with strong understanding of end-to-end financial systems.
Proven experience leading or contributing to GL / Financial Reporting / Consolidation implementations or improvement projects.
Solid project management experience, including delivery within complex global change programs using appropriate tools and techniques.
Strong technical understanding of accounting principles and demonstrated ability to apply them in practice.
Broad exposure to Accounting/Financial Reporting, financial systems support, systems development, and project delivery.
Strong analytical skills, able to bring structure and effective solutions to ambiguous or poorly defined problems; capable of deriving data insights.
Excellent communication and presentation skills across channels (written, verbal, workshops, and stakeholder forums).
Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills, able to build effective relationships across seniority levels (internal and external).
Demonstrated leadership and strategic management capability, including leading teams across multiple locations and driving results.
Able to perform under pressure with competing, fast-changing priorities; commercial acumen to support business decision-making.
