We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of
Americas Finance Testing GSC Lead
Role purpose
Managing the Finance Testing activities and capabilities across HSBC Mexico & LAM, supporting an effective operational risk and internal control management program and ensuring that all key accounting and reporting related risks are identified, mitigated and monitored by an appropriate control environment that is commensurate with risk appetite. This role reports into Americas Head of Finance Testing and supports the Head of Financial Reporting Risk - MX and LAM.
Main activities:
Perform reviews on Finance processes and controls in accordance with the relevant Policies and frameworks, including Operational Risk, SOX and applicable regulations.
Identify emerging operational risk themes and use these inputs to modify the control testing approach
Prepare and present Testing reports detailing key findings to the Business Service Owners and Finance senior management, both locally and as required to the Global Finance management team
Identify remediation actions for control weaknesses identified during respective reviews, agree these with control owners and ensure issues are recorded in accordance with HSBC standards
Ensure risk and control documentation is clear, comprehensive and in accordance with internal and external standards
Lead, train and support the team to ensure proper execution of Testing roles and responsibilities
Work closely with the internal control functions, local and global SOX teams, GCCOO (Group Chief Control Oversight Office) teams to continue integration of SOX/Operational risk testing as a part of the overall framework
Act as a change agent to ensure that the line teams are well versed and have a strong understanding of the Operational Risk framework including the Three Lines of Défense
Support development and execution of plans, assessment, and reviews to achieve the operational risk management goals of the Head of Americas Financial Reporting Risk and Testing
Provide input and commentary to the Risk and Control Management Meeting (RCMM) and Regional Audit Committee Papers, as and when required
Support the Financial Reporting Risk Steward during their challenge and review of the Risk & Control Assessment (RCA) profile
Requirements
Possess experience in a role involving the monitoring or operation of internal controls in banking together with an understanding of end-to-end financial reporting processes. (Ideally acquired within either a Finance or Internal Audit function)
Knowledge of the regulatory environment in the financial services sector
Understanding of HSBC’s activities, products, processes and systems
Understanding of the key elements of both an Operational Risk and Sox Framework
Analyze and assess complex operations and processes and identify related, material risk exposures and key mitigating controls
Able to conceptualise the operational impact of business change
Able to cope with pressure and tight deadlines
Good people skills, including ability to present to Senior Management and convey key messages
Sound judgment, keen sense of urgency, and high level of professional and personal integrity Strong verbal and written communication skills that promote and enable openness with staff, management, internal partners, and external parties
