Host acquired Avondale Shipyard in 2018 from Huntington Ingalls Industries. Avondale is a historic property, located along the Mississippi River in New Orleans, LA, with a footprint of 254 acres and significant warehousing and storage capabilities. With five docks and over one mile of waterfront, the Avondale Shipyard will become integral to Host’s continued efforts to provide REAL solutions to customers and shift the transportation paradigm. Avondale is in the process of transforming into a multi modal gate complex and looking for a “go-getter” to help us with the scale and traffic activities.
Position Summary: The Scale House administrator will be administering the weigh bridges, recording trucks in and out of the terminal, and interacting with truck drivers and all internal and external stakeholders applicable. This individual will also assist the team with record keeping and process improvement, and will be integrally involved with the rail movements and paperwork administration at Avondale.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Greet customers and drivers. Direct trucks customers upon entering and exiting the facility.
Weighing trucks in and out of the facility. Prepare or execute documents, such as work orders, work logs, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials, also as it relates to rail movements.
Track weight information from scale to computer system and get appropriate signatures.
Work with the CSR team on cargo documentation and reporting, and compare with records, such as manifests, work orders, bills of lading, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipments.
Providing general upkeep of the Scale House and work closely with terminal operations.
Assisting with office duties, clerical, filing and paperwork as needed.
Ensuring that customers conduct business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Tracking information in Oracle based systems.
Assist yard crew in setting up/ tallying loads for outbound delivery and inventory.
Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
Work with the customer service team to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.

Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required:
High School Diploma required.
Candidate must be proactive, flexible, and a self-starter. Must have ability to multi-task, prioritize, and execute multiple activities in a fast-paced work environment.
Must be able to manage the varied tasks associated with multiple projects and the ability to manage conflicting deadlines.
Self-motivated with strong organizational and communication skills, excellent interpersonal, presentation and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and the desire to contribute in every aspect to a team environment.
MS Office software skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
Valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements:
Long periods of sitting and standing
Lifting weights of up to 25 lbs
