Resideo Software Engineering Supervisor – Web & Mobile Platform in Austin, Texas

The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for driving delivery, execution, and cross-functional alignment for Resideo’s OnePortal web platform.

This role partners closely with the Lead Software Architect (peer role) to bring the platform vision to life through high-quality, predictable delivery. While the Architect defines the technical direction and architecture, the Engineering Supervisor ensures that engineering teams execute effectively against that vision.

This is a hands-on leadership role focused on delivery excellence, team effectiveness, and strong collaboration with Product and GXD (Global Experience Design).

The Engineering Supervisor will also play a key role in fostering Resideo’s AI-first development culture, ensuring teams leverage modern tooling and practices to improve velocity and quality.

JOB DUTIES:

Delivery Leadership and Execution

  • Own end-to-end delivery of OnePortal web platform initiatives

  • Translate architectural vision (defined by the Lead Architect) into actionable delivery plans

  • Drive sprint execution, backlog prioritization, and release planning in partnership with Product

  • Ensure predictable, high-quality delivery across both next-generation React micro-frontend platform and legacy AngularJS + Ruby on Rails systems

  • Identify and remove delivery bottlenecks across teams

  • Establish clear accountability and ownership within the engineering team

Team Leadership and Engineering Management

  • Lead a team of full-stack engineers working across React, AngularJS, Ruby on Rails, and .NET integrations

  • Set clear performance expectations and maintain a high bar for engineering quality

  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and career development for engineers

  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement

  • Partner with leadership on hiring, onboarding, and team scaling

Collaboration with Product and GXD

  • Work closely with Product Management to align engineering delivery with business priorities

  • Partner with GXD (Global Experience Design) to ensure high-quality, consistent user experiences

  • Ensure smooth translation of product requirements and design artifacts (Figma) into implementation

  • Drive alignment between engineering, product, and design throughout the development lifecycle

Platform Execution Across Modern and Legacy Systems

  • Oversee development of the React-based micro-frontend architecture platform

  • Ensure proper execution of modular frontend development aligned with architectural standards

  • Manage ongoing support and enhancements for AngularJS + Ruby on Rails applications

  • Ensure system stability while enabling incremental modernization

  • Drive consistency in API integration patterns across .NET and Rails services

Quality, Testing, and Operational Excellence

  • Ensure strong testing practices including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing

  • Enforce CI/CD best practices and release discipline

  • Ensure API validation and testing using tools such as Postman

  • Improve observability, debugging, and production support processes

  • Maintain high standards for code quality, performance, and security

AI-First Engineering Enablement

  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted development practices across the team

  • Encourage use of AI tools for code generation and refactoring, Test automation, and debugging and documentation

  • Ensure AI usage improves delivery velocity without compromising quality

  • Partner with the Architect to align AI practices with broader engineering strategy

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience

  • 2+ years of engineering leadership or management experience

  • Proven hands-on background in React and TypeScript, REST API integration, and Full-stack development practices

  • Experience delivering complex web applications at scale while working closely with Product and Design (GXD/UX) teams

  • Experience managing Agile delivery (Jira, sprint planning, backlog management)

  • Ability to work in-office three days/week (Tu/Weds/Thurs) in adherence with our required hybrid work environment

WE VALUE:

  • Experience in highly rigorous engineering environments, competitive technical programs, or equivalent applied industry experience demonstrating an ability to be analytical and solve complex engineering problems at a level commonly seen in top tier technical training or high performing engineering roles

  • Experience working with Micro-Frontend architectures

  • Working knowledge of AngularJS and Ruby on Rails (for legacy system oversight)

  • Experience integrating with .NET backend services

  • Sound understanding of: Modular application development, API integration and validation, CI/CD and release management

  • Proven ability to drive execution in complex, cross-functional environments

  • Experience improving team productivity through tooling and process improvements

  • Experience in IoT, SaaS, or platform-based products
