Job Description
The Role (What to Expect):
Tesla is looking for a highly skilled, highly motivated Structural Designer to be part of Engineering Procurement construction (EPC) organization supporting factory and refinery infrastructure projects over multiple North America locations. The role will work on greenfield and existing facilities interfacing with cross-discipline teams in a fast-paced environment producing innovative detailed designs structural systems that are fully integrated with manufacturing and refining processes.
Responsibilities (What’ll You’ll Do):
• Support the design and construction of new projects and renovations to existing industrial, manufacturing, and office facilities at multiple Tesla Facilities.
• Create initial Revit project setup with workflow documents.
• Manage high-quality BIM (Revit) models, develop 3D engineering designs in Revit, and prepare plan drawings, section/elevations, installation details, and schedules for permit and construction under the supervision of Lead Designer/Engineer.
• Coordinate structural modeling with multidisciplinary project teams including Mechanical, Electrical, Piping/Plumbing (MEP) professionals.
• Utilize and improve structural design standards by working with the BIM/CAD support team to achieve consistent results and incorporate new design into the existing facility models.
• Independently address non engineering RFIs, collaborating with the assigned Engineer as needed before finalizing the response.
• Developing material take-offs, provide planning estimates with limited scope information.
• Develop 3D models and present 30%, 60% and 90% design reviews to stake holders and multi-discipline teams.
Requirements (What You’ll Bring):
• ITE drafting certification or equivalent experience.
• 4-8 years of civil/structural drafting for building, manufacturing, industrial projects, or refineries.
• Experience developing BIM Content: Families - parametric, formula nested, type catalogs
• Expert knowledge of Revit Structural and proficiency with AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite
• Works effectively under the direction of the Lead Engineer/Designer with minimal supervision, prioritizes and clearly communicates tasks, and demonstrates flexibility to work overtime when necessary to meet project deadlines.
• Detail-oriented and technical, yet experienced enough to see the big picture
• Able to multi-task and be flexible/adapt to rapidly changing project requirements/timelines
• Self-directed, highly motivated self-starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills
