Job Title: Senior SQL Server Database Administrator
Overview / Summary:
The Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining the health, performance, and security of a large-scale SQL Server environment spanning over 100 databases across 102 servers. This role focuses on daily operations, performance tuning, troubleshooting, data migrations, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to support applications, reporting, and development efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor system resources and identify expensive or slow-running queries
Review SQL Server and Windows logs to detect anomalies and resolve issues
Manage SQL Server Agent jobs, scheduling, and notifications
Troubleshoot SSRS reporting issues and support reporting environments
Perform real-time problem resolution and root cause analysis
Manage user permissions and implement access controls
Support database migrations and upgrades from legacy SQL Server versions
Conduct performance tuning, index analysis, and space management
Collaborate with teams on ETL processes and SSIS package updates
Support application environments and development activities
Assist with schema refinement, query optimization, and code reviews
Ensure data protection and security for applications (e.g., CCURE9000)
Participate in project meetings and knowledge transfer sessions
Required Qualifications:
8 years of SQL Server Administration, including installation, configuration, and upgrades (SQL Server 2012/2016/2019)
8 years of database performance monitoring and tuning (CPU, memory, I/O, query optimization, indexing, execution plans)
8 years of backup and recovery, including disaster recovery planning and restoration using SQL Server tools and Azure SQL
8 years of security and access control (role-based access, authentication, encryption, compliance)
8 years of ETL and SSIS development, including package management and workflow support
8 years of job scheduling and automation using SQL Server Agent and Notification Services
8 years of log analysis and troubleshooting across SQL Server, Windows, and application logs
8 years of index and storage management, including space utilization and performance optimization
8 years of experience with database migration and upgrade projects across environments
8 years of experience with SSRS configuration and troubleshooting
8 years of cross-functional collaboration and knowledge transfer
8 years of cloud integration experience with Azure SQL (BacPac, restoration, hybrid support)
