TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION S063 Traffic Management (TM) Summer Engineering Intern - Traffic Safety Division in Austin, Texas
Assists in transportation work with engineering plans, equipment specifications, mapping, training module review, data entry and review, and hands-on traffic management equipment evaluations, and other entry-level engineering support work. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.Must be enrolled in an engineering or related science degree program in an accredited college or university accepted by Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (TX PELS).Essential Duties:Assists in maintaining inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment.Assists with general warehousing duties such as stocking and issuing materials and supplies, maintaining records, and maintaining warehouse areas.Learn about signal timing and observe the impact of the Signals Connectivity projectPerforms data entry and computer-aided analysis.Prepares and reviews base sheets, details, specifications, manuals, and other documents.Develops spreadsheets, databases, and other electronic documents.Assists with reviewing ITS projects to determine special provision requirements.Assists with reviewing sole source procurement project applications.Assists with reviewing railroad preemption forms that contain traffic signal retiming information.Assists with reviewing and/or creating specifications.Use Lonestar to control cameras and Dynamic Message Signs.Learn how to upload images to the color Dynamic Message Signs.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
