Plan, coordinate and direct workflow within the Photograph Archives unit. Develop and implement policies and procedures for the care, description, cataloging, and promotion of the centers rapidly growing photographic collections. Participate in the overall operations and programmatic activities of the photography unit, including the inventory, processing, and housing of current and incoming collections. Arrange, describe, and provide access to a wide variety of photographic images and take the lead for their care and security. Describe and preserve promote photographic archival collections according to archival standards and the needs of the Center. Oversee storage of collections in collaboration with the centers Research and Collections staff.Work with center leadership and administrative staff on collection development and existing and new donors.Participate in tours of the photo archives for donors. Contribute to Briscoe Center-wide initiatives, including work with web master and digitization team to create and update online presence for the photograph collections. Work with Research and Collections division staff on collection maintenance activities, collection pick-ups, and Center-sponsored events. Participate in ACMS (Archives Content Management Systems) and other center committees.Work in the reading room regularly and respond to reference inquiries from a wide variety of individuals and entities. Keep up with current and developing standards for archival description and incorporates these standards into the unit's workflow.Train and/or supervise student interns and archivists to support teaching mission of the university.Make presentations to groups of students and the public regarding both individual collections and the archives.Manage special projects that include digitization as well as processing. Assist with book and exhibit projects, both those that are exclusively photographs and those that use photographs as a part of the narrative. Keep an ongoing tally of preservation and housing supplies. Consult with preservation specialists regarding conservation and housing of high-priority items.Other duties as assigned.
