Serve as the departments primary Patient Account Representative with a vast knowledge and application of all aspects of University Health Services (UHS) eligibility, insurance verification, and billing inquiries:Serve as first line contact for all Billing department phone calls, emails, secure messages, departmental mailboxes, and contact forms.Data entry of patient insurance information to include identifying HMO, EPO, and out of network insurance plans.Processes Service Extension Fee applications and verifies students eligibility to access Healthyhorns services.Fields general inquiries for charges, payment and/or refunds generated from UHS including understanding our clinic fee schedule.Assigns charges for Inter-Departmental Transactions as necessary.Processes requests for students who wish to not use their insurance due to privacy concerns.Posts patient payments made via credit/debit to our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system and/or issuing appropriate credits/charges to a students bursar account.Serves as departmental contact for Summer/Special Programs.On site management of received mail and administrative support.Performs Insurance VerificationUtilizes our Clearinghouse, EMR system, and/or other third-party verification websites/provider services to verify patients have valid insurance coverage on the date of their appointment and follows up to correct any demographic errors or obtain updated information.Reviews daily departmental schedules to request insurance information for students who have not yet provided it.Serves as backup Benefit Verification Specialist, assisting the current Benefit Verification Specialist with obtaining benefits for Gynecology procedures, Nutrition, and Physical Therapy services, in addition to creating Good Faith Estimates and/or prior authorizations, as needed.Support coding and billing compliance program.Serve as a resource for identifying insurance plan types.Call or perform online queries with insurance companies to obtain claim status.Provide as needed support to Billing Specialist and Coding staff.Participates in other activities as appropriate and assigned.Maintains office supplies.Assists with missed appointment appeals.Assists patients with requesting bar lifts.Establishes patient payment plan contracts.
