Performs preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostic testing, and repairs of mechanical systems for campus fountains and Turtle Pond. Performs water quality tests and makes adjustments to chemicals, temperature, etc., as necessary to meet pool, spa, and fountain water quality requirements. Checks and interprets gauges, flow meters, and monitoring equipment for operational efficiency.Performs preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs of mechanical systems to include pumps, fans, compressors, and specialty equipment. Acquires field data from equipment, tags, and applies equipment labels.Cleans mechanical rooms and fountain basins. Organizes spare parts, equipment and material to ensure proper storage requirements are met and efficient retrieval of items.Acquires parts and maintains appropriate stock of material and supplies. Maintains inventory for repairs and maintenance.Maintains records of water quality inspections and prepares reports on repairs and services according to university and regulatory requirements.Assists electricians, plumbers, refrigeration mechanics, carpenters, and others as needed to meet shop goals and objectives.Performs basic electrical tasks, such as the replacement of lamps and ballasts.Utilizes precision instruments to determine flow rates, pressure drop, etc. to insure proper alignment, installation, and operation of belts, chains, couplings, bearings, and other drive components.Reads blueprints, works from specifications, and follows instructions both written and oral. Performs daily written explanations on work orders to document work done and to describe equipment problems. Uses appropriate personal protective equipment to work with hazardous chemicals common to pools and spas.Other related functions as assigned.
