Electrical Systems Engineering: Evaluates, troubleshoots, and reviews electrical power systems. Performs power system analysis including load flow and voltage drop, short circuit, arc flash hazard analysis, cable ampacity, and harmonics. Develops complex protective relay settings for medium voltage circuits and equipment including generators, transformers, and communications-assisted protection schemes. Interprets relay event reports and sequence of events reports to determine fault types and causes of trips.Project Management: Manages and coordinates special utility system projects by developing schedules, cost estimates, budgets, detailed final construction plans, specifications, special conditions, contracts, and agreements. Oversees project progress from preliminary project feasibility and long-range planning through design, construction, and commissioning.Reporting: Prepares documentation for investigations, feasibility studies, and other projects including initial, progress, and final reports. Determines project initial and long term costs and savings and prepares life-cycle analyses. Reports findings through written reports and presentations using advanced reporting tools such as Tableau and Power BI. Uses tools to provide stakeholders with clear insights into report findings.Technical Guidance and Compliance: Advises on industry standards and code requirements. Maintains, updates, and creates design and construction specifications and standard details. Reviews engineering scopes of work, assists in engineering firm selection, and reviews deliverables from outsourced engineers.Design and Construction Phase Reviews: Performs technical design review as a subject matter expert in the areas of electrical engineering, reviews construction submittals, responds to requests for information, and reviews proposed contract changes for compliance with design standards.Communications Liaison: Facilitates effective communication among department and campus stakeholders. Establishes connections with external entities such as government agencies, contractors, consultants, and the public to facilitate the exchange of information, coordinate collaborative efforts, address inquiries, and provide timely responses. Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.Continuous Improvement: Fosters a collaborative team environment. Identifies and implements innovative solutions to enhance system efficiency, reliability, and sustainability. Identifies opportunities for process improvement within assignments. Promotes the use of innovative tools and methodologies to enhance project delivery efficiency and stakeholder satisfaction.Follows all University and UEM policies and procedures, takes required training, and identifies and reports safety hazards. Completes required continuing education. Performs work tasks in a safe manner, wear the proper personal protective equipment, and report near misses and incidents.
