  • Experience with academic support programs that include academic advising, and the college exploration/application process.

  • Experience developing programs, events, trips, and workshops for students.

  • Effective writing and speaking skills.

  • Experience with computer software (Microsoft suite) and database management platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work or a related field.

  • Experience in planning educational and/or cultural trips.

  • 2 years experience with academic advising, college, and career preparation, and the college exploration/application process.

  • Experience facilitating students/parents through the college admission and financial aid process.

  • Bilingual (Spanish) speaking/writing.

Job Description

This is a grant funded position. Continuation of this position is contingent upon grant funding.

Reports to the Director of Talent Search Austin at Texas State University. The Talent Search Austin Coordinator promotes educational achievement and the pursuit of post- secondary education enrollment for program participants.

The Coordinator is responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of comprehensive services for program participants in the 6th to 12th grades at the program’s target schools.

Services include but are not limited to college and career readiness, academic support, and financial aid advising.

The Coordinator is also responsible for recruitment and monitoring progress toward the accomplishment of program objectives.

Position located at target schools in Austin, Texas with occasional travel to the Texas State University campus in San Marcos, Texas.

Evening and weekend work may be required.

Job Duties

  • Assist with program recruitment.

  • Complete Individual Service Plans ( ISP ) and Needs Assessments annually for new and continuing participants.

  • Develop and implement innovative co-curricular programming for students and parents/guardians including workshops, trips, and events.

  • Develop and oversee academic tutoring schedules for students to adhere to on a weekly basis. Ensure students effectively utilize tutoring services provided and communicate needs from tutors as appropriate.

  • Oversee the assessment and reporting of participant progress, personal growth, and academic performance.

  • Provide college admission and financial aid process information. Ensure that senior participants take appropriate steps toward high school graduation and college enrollment.

  • Assist program director in maintenance of participant files and program-specific documentation to ensure all appropriate services and contacts are entered into the student database; verify promotion, retention, and graduation of all current participants.

  • Assist with pre and post evaluations for participants and parents/guardians.

  • Monitor outcome objectives, collect data, and assist in preparing annual performance reports/other reports as assigned.

  • Develop and maintain professional outreach networks within target area communities and schools, serving as a liaison and point of contact as needed.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to promote personal and professional growth.

  • Conduct other duties as assigned.
