RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and oversee all Food Safety and Quality systems, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), Food Safety Plans, and company FSQ programs.

  • Maintain full accountability for the food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance of finished products.

  • Develop, document, implement, and sustain comprehensive FSQ programs, policies, and product specifications.

  • Lead the development, training, validation, and continuous improvement of plant quality systems covering food safety, product quality, sanitation, and prerequisite programs.

  • Lead, coach, and develop FSQ team members to ensure competency and engagement.

  • Ensure plant-wide compliance with FDA regulations, FSMA requirements, corporate standards, and customer specifications.

  • Serve as the primary site contact for regulatory agencies and lead all regulatory inspections and follow-up activities.

  • Partner closely with Operations, Maintenance, and other cross-functional teams to address day-to-day food safety and quality issues and drive sustainable solutions.

  • Oversee the identification, control, documentation, and disposition of nonconforming materials and products in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.

  • Establish, monitor, and drive departmental KPIs and plant-wide quality objectives to improve product quality, operational efficiency, and cost performance.

  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing effectiveness of SOP, Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and FSMA-based preventive control programs.

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives, focused improvement projects, and data-driven problem-solving efforts.

  • Plan, lead, and support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits, including annual GFSI certification audits.

  • Lead deviation management, root cause investigations, and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes to ensure timely and effective closure.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field or relevant experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on Food Safety and Quality experience in a manufacturing or plant-based environment.

  • Previous supervisory experience over a Food Safety & Quality Team

  • Strong working knowledge of food safety and quality management systems, including preventive controls and prerequisite programs.

  • In-depth knowledge of GMPs, FDA regulations, FSMA requirements, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • PCQI, SQF Practitioner Certification.

  • Strong leadership skills or supervisory experience.

  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and project management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.

  • Ability to prioritize and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-accountability manufacturing environment.

  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred

  • Experience in dietary supplement manufacturing and contract manufacturing environments.

  • Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement methodologies, such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar programs.

At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for this role is between $93,400 - $130,800 per year , and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
