Wanco, Inc. Power Generator Equipment Assembler in Aurora, Colorado

Job Summary

Responsible for assembling electrical generating equipment. Reads and interprets instructions, assembles parts and tools, and fits electronic components together.

Wanco is looking for a motivated and accomplished Assembler with both Electrical and Mechanical experience to join a growing production team that builds diesel generator sets in our Aurora location. As a new team member, you will be trained in all the functions necessary to build our equipment. You will be cross-trained through all the job stations to enable you to take on any role. Each job station requires attention to detail and dedication to quality.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Display a positive attitude and practice a strong work ethic that reflects Wanco's mission, philosophy, and goals
  • Assemble engines, alternators, sheet metal, and components. Modify and install electrical wiring on power systems up to 480AC volts
  • Assemble trailer frames including axles, taillight harnesses, wheels, tires, hitches.
  • Assemble and install mechanical assemblies, including drilling, fitting, bolting, and general assembly, operating cranes and hoists
  • After cross-training, support peers in work that may be outside your or their core skill sets
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for improving quality, safety, and productivity
  • Accurately capture material and parts consumption using provided computer systems and software
  • Test completed generator sets during operation under load

Required

  • Wiring and electrical assembly
  • Mechanical assembly, including small, fragile parts and large assemblies such as engines and trailer frames
  • Work safely around running engines and electrical systems up to 480VAC
  • Proficiency with blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Basic computing skills, including Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • 2+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred

  • Basic understanding of diesel engine parts and operation
  • Troubleshooting using a multimeter
  • Familiarity with torque specifications and proper fastener techniques
  • Familiarity with overhead crane operation (training available)
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and workflows

Schedule

  • Typical start time: 6:00 AM
  • Typical end time: 4:30 PM
  • Overtime (Saturdays are often required)

Physical Requirements

  • The ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions
  • The ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds from the floor to the waist
  • Must be able to climb ladders, climb up, and work from elevated platforms
  • Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties
  • The position may require occasional outdoor work

Reporting: This position reports to the Production Manager and doesn't have direct hourly reports.

Salary Range: $20-$22.00 per hour based on qualifications
