Adecco US, Inc. International Ocean Import Operations Associate in Aurora, Colorado

The Ocean Freight Associate will support import ocean freight operations , with limited exposure to air freight due to the small, collaborative team environment. This role is hands?on and operational, requiring the ability to independently manage tracking, documentation, and exception handling from day one. The associate will work closely with carriers, internal teams, and customers to ensure timely, compliant, and accurate movement of import shipments.

This position is ideal for a candidate with at least one year of ocean freight forwarding experience who is comfortable working across multiple customers and shipment types, including FCL and LCL .

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage ocean import shipments from booking through final delivery, ensuring accuracy and compliance at each step

  • Perform tracking and tracing independently starting Day 1 , proactively identifying delays or exceptions

  • Prepare, review, and manage ocean freight documentation , including:

  • Bills of Lading (MBL/HBL)

  • Shipping instructions

  • Arrival notices and related import documents

  • Ensure compliance with AMS (Automated Manifest System) regulations and other import requirements

  • Coordinate with ocean carriers, overseas agents, customs brokers, and internal DHL teams

  • Handle carrier booking activities and maintain shipment milestones in the freight forwarding system

  • Identify, escalate, and resolve shipment exceptions, delays, or documentation issues

  • Update and maintain shipment data in CargoWise or other freight forwarding systems

  • Support limited air freight activities as needed due to team size

  • Deliver high?quality, customer?focused service while meeting internal SLAs and KPIs

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of ocean freight forwarding experience (imports required)

  • Prior experience working for a freight forwarder (small, mid?size, or global forwarder)

  • Strong working knowledge of:

  • Ocean freight terminology

  • Import processes

  • Tracking & tracing

  • Bills of Lading

  • Carrier booking practices

  • Exception management

  • Experience handling shipments for more than one customer

  • Familiarity with FCL and LCL containerized freight

  • Comfortable working in a fast?paced, detail?oriented operations environment

  • Experience using CargoWise (training provided if not previously used)

  • Exposure to air freight operations (supporting role only)

  • Experience coordinating with overseas agents and multiple carriers

Pay Details: $24.75 per hour
