Job Title: Senior Sewing Machine Rebuild Technician
Location: Auburn, ME
Type: Contract
Compensation: $50-56/hour depending on qualifications
Contractor Work Model: Onsite
Hours: Monday-Friday (8am to 5pm)
Senior Sewing Machine Rebuild Technician
Responsibilities:
Tear down and rebuild high-speed sewing machines according to established standards and work instructions.
Set up and calibrate equipment to defined centerline specifications for optimal production performance.
Troubleshoot sewing defects and identify root causes of equipment-related issues.
Perform mechanical assessments including alignment, torque testing, tension adjustments, and verification of guards and moving parts.
Support production teams by diagnosing and resolving machine outages and performance issues.
Train and coach team members on rebuild processes, machine settings, and centerline standards.
Assist in developing, updating, and improving equipment standards and rebuild procedures.
Ensure compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and safety requirements when working with or around energized equipment.
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience rebuilding high-speed sewing machines.
Demonstrated ability to follow detailed work instructions and standards to rebuild complex machinery.
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve sewing defects.
Experience training and coaching others on equipment setup, centerlines, and machine standards.
Extensive mechanical experience with industrial sewing equipment and associated components.
Experience supporting production line setup, equipment validation, and centerline verification.
Familiarity with torque testing, alignment procedures, and mechanical performance checks.
Ability to contribute to process improvements and standard updates.
Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving ability.
Full understanding of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety procedures.
