Position Summary The General Superintendent provides leadership and technical expertise across diverse construction projects, ensuring safe, timely, and profitable completion. This role promotes a strong safety culture, drives operational excellence, and resolves complex field challenges. Acting as a mentor and coach, the General Superintendent develops high-performing teams, standardizes best practices, and collaborates closely with project leadership to achieve schedule, budget, and quality objectives. Safety Leadership & Operational Excellence Ensure compliance with all Company Safety Policies and Code of Conduct and foster a strong safety culture across projects by monitoring job-site practices and partnering with Safety, Human Resources, and Risk teams to resolve complex issues and drive continuous improvement. Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and operational excellence. Promote quality objectives aligned with client requirements and company standards through effective planning, scheduling, risk management, and structured reviews. Champion technology adoption, data-driven reporting, and training to enhance team capability while refining operational procedures for efficiency. Monitor project performance through regular site visits, addressing challenges to maintain schedule, budget, and quality objectives. Offer technical expertise across multiple disciplines, resolving complex field issues and supporting project management with planning and documentation. Drive efficiency in self-perform operations, equipment utilization, and field processes while contributing insights during estimating and preconstruction phases. Maintain strong client relationships through regular meetings and communication and lead weekly project staff meetings. Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and develop or improve SOPs as needed. Financial & Scheduling Management Accountable for project P&L performance, ensuring accurate forecasting and achieving or exceeding bid profit and gross margin objectives across the portfolio. Assist the project team in accurate financial forecasting and maintain a full understanding of project contingencies, risks, and opportunities. Set scheduling, production and installation performance goals and monitor compliance. Support project staff in developing and updating the Baseline Schedule, resolving scheduling issues, and monitoring schedule performance. Standardize field processes across projects to ensure consistency and efficiency. People & Talent Management Oversee on-site operations, including scheduling, material control, and personnel direction, to meet budget, timeline, and quality standards across all projects. Lead, coach, and mentor field staff and Superintendents with the goal of developing high-potential field leaders. Monitor and develop Superintendent staff assignments and forecast regional manpower needs to optimize resource utilization. Foster a team-oriented, respectful work environment while promoting company interests. Enforce compliance with processes, procedures, safety requirements, and work rules. Drive initiatives to improve retention and morale among field staff. Conduct annual performance reviews for all Superintendents and provide actionable feedback. Recommend hiring, discipline, and training of craft employees; assist in sourcing and screening candidates as requested. Chair and attend Superintendent Quarterly Meetings. Ensure all field staff maintain required certifications and stay current with industry standards. Partner with Human Resources and Talent teams to drive workforce planning, recruitment, and retention strategies aligned with business objectives.
