PHA Michigan LLC Quality Engineer in Auburn Hills, Michigan

Job Summary: The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring quality control systems and processes to guarantee that automotive components and systems are manufactured to the highest quality standards and comply with industry regulations and customer requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Collaborates with the team of quality inspectors and quality process controllers.

Essential functions:

Customer Liaison: (Relationship with Customers and quality representatives, etc.)

  • Act as a point of contact for customers regarding quality-related inquiries and issues.
  • Address customer complaints and concerns promptly and work to resolve them effectively.
  • Collect and analyze customer feedback to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Required Supplier Quality Management (SQE):

  • Evaluate and audit suppliers (when applicable) to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Develop and manage supplier quality assurance processes and address any supplier-related quality issues.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to implement quality improvement measures and resolve quality-related concerns.

Current production quality support:

  • Support established serial production, introduction, and monitoring quality checks to comply with requirements integrated into design and manufacturing processes.
  • Initiating cross-functional team activity to address quality issues and implement solutions.
  • Analysis of information coming from OEMs warranty departments, identifying trends, addressing the issues, preparing and placing disputes.
  • PPAP preparation and approval in case of design/process changes.
  • Monitoring major 4M changes.

Compliance and Documentation: (Current production area)

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards (e.g., IATF 16949), and customer requirements.
  • Prepare and present quality reports and metrics to management and stakeholders.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in quality engineering within the automotive industry for 3-5 years.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (e.G., IATF 16949), Six Sigma and Lean methodologies (preferable).
  • Hands-on experience in preparation and submission of PPAP documentation to any OEM - electronically or through specialized portal. Knowledge of GM / Stellantis / For systems preferable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
