Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with a public sector organization, is seeking a skilled Linux System Administrator. This role is responsible for maintaining Linux server environments, executing regular patching cycles, and troubleshooting patch-related issues to ensure system stability and uptime. The position focuses heavily on hands-on Linux administration within database and infrastructure-driven environments.
Job Duties
- Patch Linux servers on a defined and recurring schedule
- Troubleshoot patching failures and resolve package, dependency, or repository issues
- Diagnose and remediate post-patch system issues to restore services and stability
- Maintain Linux server environments supporting database and infrastructure workloads
- Perform root cause analysis for patch-related outages or performance degradation
- Apply system updates while adhering to change management and security standards
Skills & Experience:
- Hands-on Linux system administration experience in enterprise environments
- Proven experience patching Linux servers and resolving patch-related failures
- Experience administering Oracle Linux and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Knowledge of package management tools (e.g., yum, dnf, rpm)
- Experience supporting Linux systems running N-1 or N-2 OS versions
Desired
- Deep experience with Oracle Linux in database-centric environments
- Experience supporting Linux servers tied to Oracle or similar enterprise databases
- Familiarity with infrastructure support workflows and production change cycles
