Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Vegetation Project Manager to join the Vegetation Management team. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing vegetation management projects to ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. The ideal candidate is proactive, resilient, and able to navigate constraints while driving projects forward in a fast-paced utility environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and manage vegetation management projects from initiation through completion.

• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.

• Coordinate with internal teams, Vegetation Program Leads (VPLs), contractors, and external stakeholders.

• Actively manage project constraints when work cannot proceed due to customer, city, agency, environmental, or operational limitations.

• Monitor project progress and performance, adjusting plans as needed to ensure successful outcomes.

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.

• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.

• Prepare, maintain, and present project status reports and dashboards to leadership and stakeholders.

• Utilize Power BI for reporting, tracking performance, and visualizing key metrics.

• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Skills and Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of project management experience, preferably within vegetation management or a related field.

• Vegetation management background or relevant field experience.

• Strong understanding of safety regulations and environmental compliance standards.

• Demonstrated experience managing constraints in complex or utility-driven environments.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Proficiency with project management tools and systems.

• Experience with Power BI reporting / understanding

• Resilient mindset with the ability to navigate resistance, “push doors open,” and drive outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP or equivalent project management certification.

• Experience working with utility companies or within the energy sector.

• PG&E-specific experience (strongly preferred).

• Familiarity with PG&E vegetation or internal utility tools (preferred; not required).

Role Expectations & Work Environment

• Onsite: Minimum three days per week in Auburn; expected to be in-office closer to four days per week initially to support onboarding, relationship-building, shadowing, and knowledge transfer.

• Collaboration: High-touch role working closely with VPLs, office stakeholders, and field partners.

• Mindset: Humble, curious, and willing to ask questions—especially critical as team knowledge transitions occur.

• Ramp-Up: Expected to jump in quickly and contribute early, with a strong ability to learn niche systems and processes.
