Overview
The College of Veterinary Science is hiring for a Tech, Ag-Vet Med levels II, III, and IV.
This position in the Department of Clinical Sciences is an important staff position that provides support and care for the equine teaching herd and equine service. The staff member in this position is a critical member of the equine team (faculty and staff) as they use horses to provide instruction to senior veterinary students (and sometimes College of Agriculture undergraduate students), and toward equine research efforts.
Responsibilities
Performs general construction and maintenance of farm equipment, structures, and grounds to include, but not limited to, fences, stalls, barns, roads, ponds, farm buildings, and lawn/field care.
Provides routine animal care such as daily feeding, watering, cleaning/sanitation of stalls and barns, rotational grazing, monitoring health and safety of animals, and transportation of animals to proper location.
May handle pesticides, herbicides, and hazardous chemicals on a team or alone.
This position involves direct contact with animals susceptible to rabies. Employees in this role must complete a rabies pre-exposure vaccination series and maintain adequate rabies antibody titer (≥0.5 IU/mL) as recommended by CDC guidelines.
Auburn University will cover the cost of the rabies vaccination series, periodic titer checks, and any necessary boosters.
Qualifications
Level II:
High school diploma or equivalent
1 year of experience in farming practices
Level III:
High school diploma or equivalent
4 years of experience in farming practices
Level IV:
High school diploma or equivalent
6 years of experience in farming practices
License and Certifications :
Valid in state driver's license required upon hire.
Substitutions Allowed for Experience
Degrees may be accepted in lieu of experience.
