Overview
Students will be responsible for the assisting with the veterinary care of animals being housed in the Large Animal Teaching Hospital, including but not limited to:
Feeding
Administering treatments
Daily health checks
Collecting biomedical samples
Animal restraining
Restocking commonly used supplies
Responsibilities
Assisting with treatments of animals admitted to the Large Animal Teaching Hospital, Food Animal Service, including but not limited to subcutaneous, intravenous, and intramuscular injections, hanging IV Fluids, etc.
Clean working/handling facilities between animals
Following biosecurity protocols while moving animals throughout the facilities
Properly labeling and storing biomedical samples
Reporting all abnormal findings and observations to the senior clinician and residents assigned to the service
Restocking commonly used supplies
