Overview

Students will be responsible for the assisting with the veterinary care of animals being housed in the Large Animal Teaching Hospital, including but not limited to:

  • Feeding

  • Administering treatments

  • Daily health checks

  • Collecting biomedical samples

  • Animal restraining

  • Restocking commonly used supplies

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with treatments of animals admitted to the Large Animal Teaching Hospital, Food Animal Service, including but not limited to subcutaneous, intravenous, and intramuscular injections, hanging IV Fluids, etc.

  • Clean working/handling facilities between animals

  • Following biosecurity protocols while moving animals throughout the facilities

  • Properly labeling and storing biomedical samples

  • Reporting all abnormal findings and observations to the senior clinician and residents assigned to the service

  • Restocking commonly used supplies
