Job Summary
The Polisher is responsible for smoothing, finishing, and polishing metal components to meet quality and aesthetic standards. This role involves using hand tools and polishing equipment to remove surface defects and prepare products for plating or final use.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of maintaining high-quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Polish and finish metal parts using abrasive wheels, belts, and hand tools
Remove excess metal, trim marks, pits, and surface defects from products
Select appropriate polishing compounds, wheels, and abrasives based on material and finish requirements
Inspect parts during and after polishing to ensure quality standards are met
Maintain consistency in satin and high-polish finishes
Follow all safety procedures and company policies
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Collaborate effectively with team members and support production needs
Perform additional duties as assigned
Core Duties
Operate polishing equipment, including stationary and portable polishing wheels
Attach and adjust abrasive wheels or belts to machinery
Dress and maintain polishing wheels and buffs to achieve desired finishes
Manipulate workpieces against polishing surfaces to remove imperfections
Perform hand polishing as required
Visually inspect finished parts for defects and overall quality
Ensure finished products meet company specifications before moving to the next stage
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
Minimum of 1 year of polishing or related manufacturing experience preferred
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, ERP systems)
Ability to work overtime, including weekends, as needed
Successful completion of required background checks
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
Frequent use of hands for tools, equipment, and material handling
Ability to push, pull, and grasp objects
Capable of lifting up to 30 pounds
May require bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
Exposure to manufacturing conditions, including dust, noise, and moving machinery
Requires continuous visual focus and attention to detail
Level of Responsibility
Works under general supervision
Limited decision-making authority
No supervisory responsibilities
