Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity Farm Worker/Trabajador Agricola in Attica, Michigan
Seeking 20 nursery workers for general farm labor. The primary responsibilities include: Manually planting, cultivating, transplanting, and harvesting trees and shrubs. Cultivating and tilling soil. Clearing and removing debris from the land. Transplanting trees and weeding. Trimming trees and tying their tops. Cutting trees and wrapping tree trunks in protective felt. Preparing digging machines and sharpening blades. Organizing materials and preparing metal baskets. Cleaning, grading, sorting, and packing trees onto trucks. Unloading and maintaining inventory. Trenching and watering liners daily. Cultivating soil and preparing/planting liners using a setter. Working with the overhead watering system. Trimming, watering, hoeing weeds, and mowing between tree rows. All duties will take place on a farm in Lapeer County, MI.

Work schedule is generally 45 hours per week, Monday through Saturday. Additional hours may be offered but not required.

Workers will be paid a minimum of $18.15 per hour. In accordance with applicable Michigan state law, Earned Sick Time Act 338, employers are required to provide earned sick time to their employees. The amount of paid sick leave provided may vary depending on the size of the business.

The employer provides housing at no cost to workers who are not reasonably able to return the same day to their residence. Separate sleeping rooms and bathroom facilities are designated for male and female workers. Family housing is not provided by the employer. H-2A workers who use employer-provided housing at no cost will be offered a wage rate of at least $16.15 per hour, consistent with Michigan's state minimum wage.
