JOB FUNCTION:
Responsible for assisting with the development, implementation, coordination and supervision of the Early Head Start/Head Start classroom, teaching staff, and selected EHS/HS collaborations ensuring that the program meets with Head Start Performance Standards and NJ/PA Licensing regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develops and implements a Primary Caregiver/Team approach to delivering a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Provides reflective supervision to the EHS education staff. Functions as a Team Leader with EHS education staff for individualization, activity planning, scheduling, record keeping and reporting.
Ensures that the classroom environment is supplied with materials and supplies for program operations that supports a literacy rich, developmentally curriculum.
Supervises the system for conducting observations, screenings and assessments for each child including ensuring that the referral process is implemented and that IFSP services and activities for special needs children are carried out in the classroom. Works closely with the Disabilities/Mental Health Specialist for Special Needs children.
Guides education staff in the development of an individual portfolio for each child.
Ensures that Home Visits and Parent Conferences, auditing files periodically.
Plans and conducts formal and informal trainings for staff and collaborating partners when appropriate. Monitors progress towards completion of CDA. Recruits potential candidates for becoming Infant Toddler CDA recipients.
Develops & maintains a developmentally appropriate system for transitions from EHS to HS that involves center staff, specialists, and parents.
- Ensures the safety of all children by participating in monitoring of center, implementation of child safety procedures, reporting accidents, reporting child abuse or neglect, following Standards of Conduct, and reporting any child health/safety concern to supervisor
Maintains a system of open communications with teaching staff, EHS and HS managers and specialists.
Attends trainings and workshops for professional development.
Attends at least 2 center meetings (parents/staff) per month.
Submits all reports as required by Head Start, including, but not limited to auditing files reports, screenings reports, Child Outcomes Framework report, and other Education Reports.
Performs all other teaching management tasks as required by Head Start Duties.
QUALIFICATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development, NJ P-3 certification, and/or Infant-Toddler CDA credential with Bachelor degree.
Two years of infant-toddler classroom experience, with an understanding of child growth and development
Supervisory experience.
A valid Driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle daily.
