Actalent Structural Engineer in Atlanta, Georgia
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Structural Engineer to join our power team, specializing in dam infrastructure and hydropower projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural engineering with hands-on experience in steel structures and hydropower systems. This role involves designing, analyzing, and supporting the construction and maintenance of dam structures to ensure safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide structural engineering expertise in the design, analysis, and assessment of dam structures and associated hydropower facilities.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers to support hydropower project development and operations.
Perform structural calculations, modeling, and simulations using industry-standard software to ensure structural integrity of steel and concrete components.
Review and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports related to dam and hydropower projects.
Support the evaluation and retrofitting of existing dam infrastructure for improved safety and performance.
Conduct site inspections and provide technical recommendations for construction and maintenance activities.
Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
Contribute to sustainable engineering practices by incorporating environmentally responsible design principles.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Proven experience (typically 3+ years) in structural engineering with a focus on dams, hydropower, and steel structures.
Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, ANSYS, or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of design codes and standards related to dams and hydropower (e.g., ACI, AISC, ASCE, ICOLD guidelines).
Experience with steel structure design and fabrication in the context of hydropower facilities.
Familiarity with construction methods and materials used in dam projects.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Commitment to safety, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.
Preferred:
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
Experience with environmental impact assessments and sustainable engineering practices.
Knowledge of hydrological and geotechnical factors influencing dam design.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $150000.00/hr.
