Job Title: Facility Maintenance Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Facility Maintenance Technician to ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of building facilities, electrical and mechanical systems, and plumbing. This role involves working with a variety of tools and equipment, performing routine preventive maintenance, and addressing any mechanical problems that may arise.
Responsibilities
Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure equipment and fixtures run smoothly and building systems operate efficiently.
Inspect and test equipment to diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, consulting blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions following checklists.
Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.
Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
Maintain the safe operation and maintenance of building facilities, electrical and mechanical systems, and plumbing.
Operate and maintain specific equipment, conduct surveys and inventories, and respond to customer complaints.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and written technical machinery documents to troubleshoot areas and make repairs accurately.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
Install wall-hung furnishings and equipment.
Maintain related computer databases.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 2 years of experience in HVAC equipment and systems, with commercial equipment preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical work including lighting, outlets, alarms, and understanding electrical safety for 120, 220, and 277 voltage.
Minimum of 2 years of plumbing experience, with commercial systems preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with air compressors, blueprints, HVAC systems, split systems, rooftop units, heating, air conditioning, and ventilation.
For Mechanic 3: Minimum of 3 years of experience on commercial HVAC equipment, commercial lighting, and plumbing systems.

Work Environment
Work in a dynamic college university setting, both indoors and outdoors, across nearly 200 buildings divided into 7 zones. Each zone has a dedicated supervisor to manage work orders. The role includes working around public buildings and research animals, with shifts from 8 AM to 4:30 PM or 7 AM to 3:30 PM depending on the department.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
