Actalent Environmental Lab Technician in Atlanta, Georgia

Job Title: Environmental Lab TechnicianJob Description

This role involves working at a laboratory in Smyrna, GA, where you will receive and handle environmental samples from power plants. You will work independently most of the day, making self-motivation and prior experience in an environmental lab crucial.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely and identify corrective actions for unsafe working conditions.

  • Receive and log samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for analysis.

  • Prepare inorganic and organic samples for analysis using a variety of laboratory instrumentation and analytical methodologies, including EPA protocols.

  • Order and maintain the appropriate number of sample bottles and/or containers for environmental sampling.

  • Perform routine laboratory housekeeping and assist Laboratory Analysts as needed.

  • Perform administrative duties such as supply inventory, ordering, organization, and peer review of data entry.

  • Support customers with filling sample container orders, coordinating sample sub-outs, and ensuring accuracy and clarity with requested analysis.

Essential Skills

  • 0-5 years of laboratory technician experience.

  • Some college education required; Associates or Bachelors in Science preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to interface with various internal and external work groups and plant personnel.

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.

  • Understanding of OSHA laboratory safety requirements under 40 CFR 1910.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.), and instrument and data management software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) or highly regulated laboratory environment preferred.

  • Experience in the Receiving department of a high-volume laboratory.

  • Wet chemistry experience preferred (e.g., pH, ammonia, alkalinity, turbidity).

  • Handling and preparing environmental samples for analysis according to EPA protocols.

  • Some LIMS experience preferred, particularly with Horizon.

Work Environment

The position is located downstairs at a laboratory, where you will be working independently most of the day. The environment is highly regulated, and attention to detail is critical. Dress code is professional, and safety protocols must be strictly followed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
