Job Description:
The UPS Controls, Standards, and Strategy department is seeking a ‘CSS Applications Developer Analyst’ to support full systems life cycle management activities including audits, analyses, technical requirements, design, coding, testing, and administration. The successful candidate plays a critical role in component and process design, technology planning, and testing to meet business requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
User Group and Production Control: Assists business owners with technical needs to support set-ups and testing and communicates with stakeholder groups during the project lifecycle
Data Development: Develops complex queries, applies best practices for performance tuning, gathers data requirements to meet user and business needs, and maintains proficiency in database technologies to remain current with industry standards
Data Analysis: Audits and analyzes raw data from external sources, researches and locates valid data sources for customer reporting needs and presents new ideas for reporting current data. Maintains attention to detail to achieve precision and accuracy in data analyses
Business Needs Analysis:
- Conducts work sessions to gather relevant information, breaks down complex concepts into comprehensible concepts, and applies appropriate levels of detail to ensure solutions satisfy business problems and opportunities. Liaisons between IT and Business owners
System Analysis & Design:
- Participates in defining and developing technical specifications to meet systems’ requirements, translates logical designs to create adaptable design solutions, evaluates vendor technologies, and ensures interoperability of system components
Applications Development:
- Analyzes, designs, codes, tests, corrects, and documents moderate programs to ensure optimal performance and compliance
Administration, Maintenance & Support:
- Monitors systems performance, performs applications maintenance and supports functions, and creates training content to enhance the quality of support. Monitors helpdesk, provides advanced support for any inquiries or incidents. Participates in business continuity activities
Project Management:
- Conducts systems and requirements analyses to identify project action items, creates task lists, and monitors project progress to ensure effective resolutions
People Management:
- At a supervisor level, manages employees, conducts performance reviews, ensures assigned workload is completed accurately and on time. Ensures management protocols such as pay integrity & data integrity. Participates willingly in employee development conversations
Audit and Risk Management:
- Participates in periodic SOX and SOD audits. Maintains audit artifacts and works toward the systemic compliance requirements. Ensures systemic balancing, tie-outs, and relevant SOX communications on a daily basis
Professional Development:
- Stays current with trends, participates in internal and external training to increase breath of perspective, and monitors the industry to gain knowledge and understanding of emerging technologies. Assists in determining the relevance and potential value of new technologies to support business objectives and strategy.
Qualifications:
Must be located in the same geographical area as the job or be willing to self-relocate
Must have a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) or be a current UPS employee with a minimum of 3 years’ UPS experience
Must be willing and available to report to the UPS Corporate Office in Atlanta no less than four days per week
Must be willing and available to work flexible shifts as necessary
Must have a minimum of three years of experience in a relevant field
Backgrounds preferred in Finance, Software Application Development, Accounting, Business Intelligence, or Data Analysis
Proficient in SQL, BI tools, and data-driven programming concepts
Experience and Proficiency in the following platforms, Oracle Business Intelligence, Oracle Cloud ERP OTBI, Looker Enterprise, Google Big Query, and Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI/FAIDP)
Understanding of EPM tools
Experience with Programing languages such as VBA, VB.net, Python or Java
Knowledge of systems life cycle management
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and presentation skills
