Job Description:
VICO 1000 – Introduction to Studies in Visual Communication (3 credit hours)
Start date: Fall Semester 2026–27
VICO 1000 is a required Scripps College of Communication, School of Visual Communication course for all VICO undergraduate majors. This course is an introduction to visual communication principles, aesthetics, research, and applications in the field. It prepares students for further study in the communication industry of photojournalism, commercial photography, UX/UI design, information graphics, and publication design.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from the School of Visual Communication or have a similar degree from a four-year university in the field of photojournalism, graphic design, journalism, fine arts, or visual communication, along with a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
Skills in Adobe Creative Cloud is a must.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree from the School of Visual Communication or have a similar advanced degree from a four-year university in the field of photojournalism, commercial photography, graphic design, journalism, fine arts or visual communication.
Work experience in documentary photography, commercial photography, web design, user experience design or web project management, information graphics, and publication design.
Candidates who have taught this course for the School of Visual Communication are preferred.
