Pennsylvania Machine Works, LLC CNC Machinist - Mazak Setup Operator 1 in Aston Mills, Pennsylvania
SUMMARY
Perform various duties to setup and operate all departmental machines and equipment to produce a wide variety of parts, sizes and materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Work from shop prints, work orders and machine trades training to setup and operate dual and multi-head machines and tryout new parts and programs efficiently.
Plan and perform setups and sequence of operations with selection of tooling.
Requisition tooling and programs.
Dry run programs to lock-in tooling and produce first piece.
Check stock materials and first piece for dimensions.
Follow quality procedures to inspect and pass production work.
Determine machine or program difficulties and adjust feeds or speeds or depths as necessary.
Check machine operation, fluid levels, greasing and internal tooling.
Recommend changes in methods and programs to increase efficiency and quality.
Assist less experienced personnel to obtain advanced skills and meet expected job performance.
Move, lift and carry parts and tooling.
Operate all CNC machines, lathes, saw, and data terminal. Use precision measuring instruments.
Refer questionable conditions to supervisor or appropriate personnel.
If applicable, when a supplier designated inspector (hardware) is certified by our customer, operator is required to do a minimum of 3 level 1 type orders per calendar quarter to maintain his/her proficiency of certification.
Responsible to prepare and submit/record production records, accurate piece counts, reports and forms required by company procedures.
Observe all company policies and regulations including safety, housekeeping and quality of work with support of ISO procedures and standards.
Utilize individually and/or further the use of total quality concepts, tools and techniques to support continuous quality improvement in all processes in which the position participates with a positive "Can Do" attitude.
Support, encourage and maintain a positive team working atmosphere throughout the company.
Perform other duties as requested or necessary to meet business conditions and changes.
QUALIFICATIONS -To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE -
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply basic trigonometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
