Job Title: Fire Watch Technician
Job Description
The Fire Watch Technician will work onsite alongside welders at an active construction project, monitoring hot work activities and the surrounding area to help maintain a safe work environment. This role focuses on observing welding operations, identifying potential fire or safety hazards, and promptly reporting or escalating concerns according to established safety protocols.
Responsibilities
Monitor welders and hot work activities continuously while work is in progress.
Observe the surrounding area for potential fire hazards, sparks, or unsafe conditions during welding operations.
Follow and enforce established safety protocols and site-specific procedures at all times.
Maintain a constant presence in designated work areas to ensure continuous fire watch coverage.
Promptly report any unsafe conditions, hazards, or incidents to the appropriate onsite personnel.
Support general labor tasks related to fire watch duties as needed within the construction environment.
Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts and remain attentive and alert throughout the workday.
Essential Skills
Previous experience in construction or general labor environments.
Strong attention to detail and situational awareness in active work areas.
Ability to closely observe welders and surrounding conditions for extended periods.
Commitment to safety protocols and adherence to onsite rules and procedures.
Reliable attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
Ability to communicate clearly and promptly with onsite team members.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience supporting trades or hot work activities in industrial or construction settings.
Familiarity with basic safety practices on construction sites.
Ability to remain focused and alert in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment
This role is based onsite at a data center construction project. You will work closely with welders and other trades in an active construction environment that may include noise, dust, and changing site conditions. The schedule typically runs Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Appropriate work attire suitable for a construction site is required, along with any necessary personal protective equipment provided or specified by the site.

This is a Contract position based out of Ashburn, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.
