Job Title: HVAC Service Technician – Data Center
Job Description
The HVAC Service Technician – Data Center installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs commercial and industrial HVAC systems, with a primary focus on data center environments. This role works with equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, rooftop units, split systems, VRF and VAV systems, and air handling units, using strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and interpret controls, drawings, and schematics. The technician ensures reliable, efficient, and safe operation of HVAC equipment critical to data center performance.
Responsibilities
Install commercial and industrial HVAC systems, including ductwork, chillers, cooling towers, rooftop units, split systems, VRF systems, VAV systems, and air handling units.
Inspect and maintain HVAC equipment to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and energy efficiency in data center environments.
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, including wiring problems, clogged filters, drain line issues, and mechanical wear.
Perform repairs on mechanical, electrical, and control components of HVAC systems to restore proper operation.
Read, interpret, and work from mechanical drawings, schematics, and control diagrams to install, service, and repair equipment accurately.
Conduct routine service visits to commercial and industrial sites, documenting work performed and recommending corrective actions or system improvements.
Verify system operation after installation, maintenance, or repair, and adjust controls or settings as needed to meet performance requirements.
Follow safety procedures and industry standards while working on HVAC equipment, including adherence to environmental regulations related to refrigerants.
Communicate effectively with internal teams and site personnel regarding equipment status, repair needs, and recommended maintenance.
Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in good working order to support efficient and safe field operations.
Essential Skills
At least five years of related experience or training in HVAC installation and service, preferably in commercial and industrial settings.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Driver's License.
Apprentice HVAC License.
HVAC Journeyman License.
Universal EPA Certification.
Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in commercial HVAC service.
Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
Ability to understand and interpret mechanical equipment drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
Experience working with commercial and industrial HVAC equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, rooftop units, VRF systems, VAV systems, split systems, and air handling units.
Capability to perform HVAC service, repair, and maintenance in demanding environments such as data centers.
Solid understanding of HVAC controls and system operation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in commercial HVAC service, including installation, start-up, and commissioning of systems.
Experience supporting HVAC systems in mission-critical environments such as data centers.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues.
Attention to detail when inspecting, servicing, and documenting work on HVAC systems.
Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining clear communication with the broader team.

Reliability and professionalism when interacting with customers and site personnel.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $93000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
