Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer (PE)Job Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer (PE) will provide power system design expertise and technical oversight for complex industrial and energy projects. This role centers on reviewing, checking, and stamping electrical engineering deliverables produced by mid- and junior-level engineers while serving as a technical mentor and subject matter expert. The engineer will perform and oversee power system analysis, medium-voltage design, and equipment specification, ensuring all work complies with NEC, NFPA 70E, and electrical safety standards. The position supports multi-discipline teams across energy, oil and gas, renewables, and industrial facilities and offers 100% remote work within the U.S. with up to 20% travel, with a preference for candidates aligned to the Mountain Time Zone.

Responsibilities

  • Review, check, and stamp electrical engineering designs and calculations produced by mid- and junior-level engineers to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with applicable codes and standards.

  • Serve as a Senior technical authority and subject matter expert for power system design on industrial, energy, and oil and gas projects.

  • Perform and oversee power system analysis, including short circuit analysis, load flow analysis, voltage drop studies, grounding design, and protective device coordination.

  • Lead the design and review of medium-voltage systems (4.16 kV and above), including equipment selection, specification, and layout.

  • Ensure all electrical designs comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, and internal electrical safety requirements.

  • Utilize ETAP or SKM software to execute and validate power system studies and document results in clear, professional reports.

  • Support the design and review of harmonics studies, UPS systems, DC power systems, substation design, and lighting photometrics for a variety of industrial and energy facilities.

  • Collaborate closely with multi-discipline teams to integrate electrical systems into overall project designs for hydrogen, renewables, emissions reduction, and advanced industrial facilities.

  • Provide technical mentorship, coaching, and structured feedback to mid- and junior-level engineers to support their professional growth and development.

  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a remote, collaborative environment.

  • Participate in project planning, design reviews, and quality assurance processes to maintain high standards of engineering excellence.

  • Support occasional travel to project sites and team meetings to conduct field reviews, attend coordination sessions, and strengthen project execution.

Essential Skills

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in electrical engineering, with the ability to obtain a Colorado PE if not already held.

  • 7–10+ years of electrical engineering experience, with flexibility based on depth of PE experience.

  • Demonstrated experience reviewing, checking, and stamping electrical engineering work produced by other engineers.

  • Proficiency in power system analysis, including short circuit analysis, load flow analysis, voltage drop, and grounding design.

  • Hands-on experience with medium-voltage systems (4.16 kV and above), including design and equipment specification.

  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA 70E.

  • Solid understanding of electrical safety principles and their application in industrial and energy environments.

  • Experience using ETAP or SKM software for power system modeling and studies.

  • Proven ability to mentor and guide mid- and junior-level engineers in technical and professional development.

  • Strong communication skills for delivering technical feedback and collaborating effectively in a remote setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with harmonics studies, UPS systems, DC power systems, and substation design.

  • Background in lighting photometrics and associated electrical design considerations.

  • Project experience in oil and gas, including midstream and upstream, or other heavy industrial facilities.

  • Experience working on projects related to hydrogen, renewables, emissions reduction, or advanced industrial facilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-discipline engineering team and coordinate across disciplines.

  • Interest in long-term stability within a technically driven engineering organization with a strong mentoring culture.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Arvada, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
