IBM Senior Product Marketing Manager, Z Modernization in Armonk, New York

Introduction

A career in IBM Product Marketing means helping shape the industry’s AI and Hybrid Cloud narrative. You are the voice of the customer and responsible for messaging & positioning, core content & collateral and the product launch moments to jumpstart the sales process. Are you ready to lead in this new era of technology and solve some of the world's most challenging problems? If so, lets talk.

Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking an energetic, innovative, and experienced Senior Product Marketing Manager to join the IBM Software Product Marketing team, responsible for Mainframe Modernization & Z Software (innovative software built specifically for IBM's mainframe). As a Senior Product Marketer, you will be an expert in mainframe software, our clients, and the market. This role will be squarely responsible for creating the value proposition for IBM’s Z software and leading the cross-platform positioning of its key segments — Application Development, Data, Security, and Operations Management.

You will lead cross-platform launches, positioning, and product activation — working with customers and products to define requirements and our story in market. You will collaborate with teams across geographies, including Marketing, Product Management, and Sales. In your work with product management, you will inform the roadmap and ensure we’re able to convey the right business value to target personas as we go to market. In your work with corporate marketing and sales you will develop the go-to-market strategy, accelerate velocity, and improve conversion through each stage of the sales process.

In the role, you will drive the outcome of connecting differentiated POVs with the right buyers and experts, measured by new signings, retention rates, average customer value, absolute and trend NPS, win loss rate, analyst ranking, and social influence.

Your primary responsibilities include:

• Expertise in your product space (Z Software), our clients, and the market

• Act as the market catalyst for Z Software, providing guiding views on key problems, competitors, and differentiators grounded in data

• Develop product positioning and go-to-market that highlights the business value of Z Software to drive growth and client engagements

• Create messaging, including point of views, strategic messaging, and leadership proof points to improve the IBM’s market position

• Presence in market with clients and prospects in meetings and at events

· Interface closely with senior leadership to drive high-priority initiatives, shaping strategy, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring successful execution across the business

· Lead and guide a team of Product Marketing Managers on key initiatives, providing direction, setting priorities, and driving alignment to deliver high-impact outcomes without direct reporting responsibility

• Identify opportunities and distinctive competencies for Z Software and key software segments

• Translate technology into marketing messages and compelling stories that influence analysts, customers, and partners towards IBM’s offerings

• Act as the launch linchpin that galvanizes internal support across all channels and drives demand for the offerings

Required technical and professional expertise

• 8+ years of experience in technology, B2B products and/or product marketing (leading segments, products, or portfolios)

• Ability to create client-centric messaging, targeting buyer pain points with differentiated value propositions

• Experience creating marketing business plans

• Ability to engage product managers and architects to translate technology into compelling marketing message

• Ability to deliver technical content like product demos

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Market understanding of the mainframe and AI

• Deep understanding of IT decision maker personas

• Experience developing compelling cross-product narratives
