Serco Vice President, Marketing & Communications in Arlington, Virginia

Position Description & Qualifications

The Vice President, Marketing & Communications is an executive leader responsible for integrating the organization’s communications, marketing, and brand strategy in support of growth within the government contracting marketplace. This role partners closely with the Global Communications team and drives North America corporate positioning, reputation building and protection, proposal and capture support, thought leadership, and internal communications while ensuring compliance with federal regulations and customer expectations. The VP serves as a strategic advisor to executive leadership and plays a critical role in enhancing brand credibility, market visibility, and employee engagement across federal, defense, and civilian agencies.

In this role, you will:

Strategic Leadership & Advisory

  • Develop and execute an integrated communications and marketing strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives, capture priorities, and long-term business strategy.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive leadership on brand positioning, messaging, and reputation management within the government contracting ecosystem.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high performing communications and marketing team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Establish priorities, performance metrics, and budgets to ensure effective use of resources and measurable impact.

  • Represent North America’s communications function within the global business, working closely with Global HQ and Divisional communications and supporting wider goals and standards

  • Build strong relationships across the business to allow for the identification of opportunities and risks

  • Use authority and credibility within the business to highlight the importance of communications, and extract content and data for proactive global and domestic use

Brand, Marketing & Growth Enablement

  • Own and evolve the corporate brand, value proposition, and messaging tailored to federal, defense, and civilian customers.

  • Oversee integrated marketing efforts including digital marketing, content development, events, customer engagement, and market intelligence.

  • Partner closely with Business Development, Capture, and Proposal teams to support pipeline development, win themes, and customer positioning.

  • Ensure marketing strategies are data driven and aligned with contract vehicles, agency priorities, and competitive landscapes.

External Communications, Public Relations & Thought Leadership

  • Lead external communications, including media relations, executive visibility, public affairs, and industry engagement.

  • Position executives and subject matter experts as thought leaders in priority mission areas.

  • Brief and engage the media and prepare executive leaders for media interactions, industry events, and customer engagements.

  • Lead crisis and issues communications to protect corporate reputation and customer trust.

Internal Communications & Change Management

  • Design and execute internal communications strategies that reinforce business priorities, values, and organizational culture.

  • Partner with HR and business leaders to support workforce communications, leadership messaging, and change initiatives.

  • Ensure consistent, transparent messaging across all internal channels, including enterprise updates, leadership communications, and employee engagement efforts.

Governance, Compliance & Collaboration

  • Ensure all communications and marketing activities comply with federal regulations, branding requirements, contractual obligations and Global HQ standards.

  • Maintain brand consistency across business units, subsidiaries, and contract vehicles.

  • Collaborate cross functionally with Business Development, HR, Legal, Security, and Operations to align messaging and ensure risk mitigation.

  • Oversee agency approved branding, customer approvals, and content governance processes as required.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Business, or a related field

  • Minimum 10 years of extensive experience in communications and/or marketing, ideally including significant experience in the government contracting industry

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership or executive role

  • Demonstrated success supporting growth, capture, and proposal efforts in federal, defense, or civilian agency markets

  • Proven experience managing brand reputation, executive communications, and stakeholder engagement in regulated environments

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and advise senior leaders

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline

  • Experience supporting large contract vehicles (e.g., IDIQs, GWACs, BPAs) and multiagency portfolios

  • Background in crisis communications, mergers and acquisitions, or largescale organizational change

  • Familiarity with FAR/DFARS considerations as they relate to marketing and communications
