Job Information

Amazon Software Development Engineer, Corporate Services Security in Arlington, Virginia

Description

Amazon's Corporate Services Security (CPSS) team is responsible for securing the applications, infrastructure, and data developed across People eXperience and Technology (PXT), Legal, Finance & Global Business Services (FGBS), and Communications & Corporate Responsibility (CCR). We partner with builder teams to minimize security risk while serving as a business enabler — and we build the tooling and automation that makes high-quality security findings available earlier in the development lifecycle.

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to join CPSS Foundations, a newly formed horizontal team responsible for building the infrastructure and mechanisms that operationalize security strategy across CPSS customers. Foundations focuses on three problem spaces: operational excellence (internal and external) to ensure the most impactful security items get prioritized by limited resources; third-party risk management to proactively help customers manage their 3P risk; and non-tech security enablement to make security accessible across all skill sets and job families. This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape the direction of a new team and build systems that have lasting strategic impact across the organization.

Key job responsibilities

Design, build, and operate scalable mechanisms that operationalize security strategy for CPSS customers across PXT, Legal, FGBS, and CCR.

Develop tooling and automation to surface security risk signals, prioritize findings, and drive operational excellence across security and customer teams.

Build systems that support third-party risk management, enabling customers to proactively identify and mitigate 3P risk at scale.

Create non-technical security enablement mechanisms that make security accessible to all job families and skill sets across the organization.

Partner closely with CPSS security engineers, AmSec teams, and customer teams to understand pain points and translate them into durable, systemic solutions.

Define and drive technical direction for Foundations, contributing to architecture decisions, engineering standards, and roadmap prioritization.

Operate with a high degree of ownership — from design through deployment and ongoing operations — with a strong bias for measurable outcomes.

A day in the life

You start your morning reviewing the latest signals from the operational excellence dashboards our team owns — a metric has shifted for one of the CPSS customer orgs, and you dig into the data to understand whether it reflects a systemic gap or a one-time event. You sync with a CPSS security engineer who is embedded with a customer team to get context on a recurring third-party risk pattern they've been seeing. Together, you scope a new mechanism that could automate the triage and escalation workflow they've been doing manually.

In the afternoon, you're in a design review with partners from AmSec, walking through the architecture for a new non-tech enablement feature that will help non-engineering job families complete security tasks without requiring deep technical knowledge. You close the day writing a doc that captures the decision rationale — because on Foundations, the work you do today becomes the foundation others build on tomorrow.
