Overview
Payment Networks is the nervous system of Mastercard’s core business. We engineer enterprise solutions to Expand in Payments and Extend our Services globally to serve our customers.
Payment Networks is comprised of mission critical Authorization, Clearing, Settlement, Account-to-Account Real Time Payments, and Value Add Services enablement platforms. This is the Engine that pulls Mastercard’s business connecting thousands of customers globally, switching 175 billion transactions annually with Mastercard good customer experience.
The Senior Vice President, Software Engineering will be responsible to engineer solutions that enable Mastercard customers to connect into Payment Networks, stream transactions into switching platforms and integrate Transaction level value add services on every transaction. This is a senior management role with overall accountability for strategy, platform architecture, solution engineering, and operational accountability.
The Role:
• Strategic technology leader with deep, hands on experience designing and implementing highly scalable, real time platforms using a broad range of modern technologies
• Provides strategic thinking, architectural guidance, and delivery leadership across a wide range of applications and technologies (e.g., connectivity protocols, security technologies, event and streaming based architectures, cloud native and cloud agnostic designs, containerized deployments, etc.)
• Defines the organizational structure and operating mechanisms required to run a high performing engineering organization while shifting toward an AI centric SDLC/PDLC and a culture of continuous learning
• Sets the vision for an environment of ingenuity and creativity, acting as a technically savvy role model who challenges the status quo and encourages innovation
• Owns outcomes without direct authority over all resources, driving alignment and accountability across a complex stakeholder ecosystem
• Ensures all platforms meet the global regulatory, security, resiliency, and availability expectations of a mission critical payment network, operating at scale with near zero tolerance for disruption
• Inspects delivery plans and execution metrics using strong technical depth and delivery experience to assess risk and continuously raise the bar on execution excellence.
• Builds strong internal/external customer relationships and partners closely with business and product leaders to establish effective engagement models, translating market and customer needs into the delivery of high quality, scalable network services
• Actively develops engineering leaders and technical talent, continuously raising standards for performance, technical depth, program management, and people leadership as the organization scales.

All About You:
• Proven technology leader with experience delivering highly scalable, configurable platforms at leading technology or financial services companies. Deep understanding of architecture trade offs and how to build high throughput, highly available, resilient platforms
• Strong awareness of cutting edge industry trends and a thorough understanding of modern development methodologies and standards. Experience with data streaming technologies, containerized applications, cloud platforms, and data security is a strong plus
• Demonstrated success driving an AI centric SDLC/PDLC across large engineering organizations
• Trusted partner to internal and external stakeholders, providing consultative technical and business leadership
• Highly collaborative and balanced decision maker who leverages data, insights, and strong communication to prioritize strategies that enable customers and internal partners to fully leverage Payment Networks platforms and services.
• Deep appreciation for the operational gravity of global payment networks, with experience delivering platforms that meet stringent regulatory, resiliency, security, and high availability requirements across multiple geographies
• Ability to manage objectives and pipelines, build business cases, define success metrics, and interpret P&L to optimize business outcomes. Experience managing vendor and service provider contracts for technology delivery
• Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders while collaborating effectively with business and product leaders to deliver customer centric services that balance speed, quality, scalability, and operational rigor
• Passion for bringing solutions to market, with a strong track record of leading medium to large, multi location engineering organizations (100+ staff) and demonstrating thought leadership, cross functional influence, and partnership
• Executive presence and credibility to engage effectively with senior leaders within Mastercard and with key customers
Compensation Pay Range: $220,000-$400,000 USD

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
