Job Description
This role focuses on performing detailed electrical quality assurance inspections for construction and renovation projects, with a strong emphasis on compliance with NFPA codes and ANSI/NETA standards. The Quality Assurance Inspector reviews plans and specifications, conducts thorough walkthroughs of in-progress construction activities, and documents findings in clear and comprehensive reports. The position is ideal for someone with a in electrical inspection, particularly in building department or owner’s representative environments, who can ensure that electrical systems and fire alarm installations meet safety, reliability, and quality requirements.
Responsibilities
Perform detailed inspections of electrical systems and installations on construction and renovation projects, including fire alarm systems, to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
Review and interpret electrical plans, drawings, and specifications, and apply this information during field walkthroughs and examinations of in-progress and completed work.
Verify that electrical work complies with NFPA 70 and NFPA 72 requirements, and clearly articulate findings related to these codes during inspections and discussions with project stakeholders.
Apply ANSI/NETA standards to evaluate the testing of electrical power systems for safety and reliability, and confirm that testing procedures and results align with industry best practices.
Provide electrical quality assurance services in accordance with established industry standards and internal processes, maintaining a consistent and methodical inspection approach.
Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely inspection reports that document observed conditions, deficiencies, corrective actions, and progress of construction activities.
Collaborate with project teams, including construction personnel and client representatives, to communicate inspection findings, recommend corrective measures, and support resolution of issues.
Utilize project management and documentation tools, such as Procore, to track inspections, record observations, and maintain organized project records.
Support commissioning activities and verification of fire alarm systems, ensuring that installed systems function as intended and meet project and regulatory requirements.
Draw on an owner’s representative mindset to advocate for quality, safety, and long-term reliability of electrical systems on behalf of the project owner.
Interact effectively with government agencies and commercial clients, adhering to their standards, procedures, and documentation requirements.
Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues, suggesting process enhancements, and sharing best practices related to electrical QA and inspection.
Essential Skills
Proven history in electrical inspection, preferably as an inspector for a building department or in a similar formal inspection role.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including installation methods, components, and typical construction practices.
Hands-on experience inspecting electrical systems and fire alarm installations in active construction environments.
Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and review electrical plans, blueprints, and specifications, and apply them accurately during field inspections.
In-depth knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code), with the ability to discuss and apply relevant sections in the field.
Experience with ANSI/NETA standards for testing electrical power systems for safety and reliability.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical findings to diverse stakeholders.
Proven documentation skills, with experience producing detailed, structured reports of inspections and construction activities.
Experience providing electrical quality assurance services in line with recognized industry standards and processes.

or experience acting in an owner-focused capacity on construction projects.
OSHA 30 certification.
CQM (Construction Quality Management) certification.
Experience with commissioning or fire alarm systems.
Knowledge and history of using Procore or similar construction/project management software.
Experience working with government agencies or commercial clients on construction or renovation projects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
CCM degree or participation in CMAA (Construction Management Association of America) classes or coursework.
Experience on large-scale renovation programs, such as court or institutional facilities, is beneficial.
Familiarity with federal project requirements and long-term program work in the public sector is an advantage.
Ability to approach inspections with a strong sense of ownership, focusing on long-term performance and reliability of electrical systems.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple inspections and documentation tasks in a fast-paced project environment.
Work Environment
This position is primarily onsite at active construction and renovation projects. Most work occurs during overnight shifts, with the possibility of occasional daytime work depending on project needs. The role involves frequent walkthroughs of construction areas, exposure to typical construction site conditions, and regular interaction with contractors, project teams, and client representatives. You will work with tools such as Procore for documentation and coordination, and you will regularly reference electrical plans, specifications, and industry codes and standards. Appropriate construction-site attire and personal protective equipment are required in all field areas.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Arlington, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $125000.00/hr.
